About

Welcome Stranger and thanks for visiting my site. I hope you enjoy your time here and come back time again.

I’m guessing you’ve stumbled upon this here website because we share a certain passion. Toys! In particular, collectable toys that have a distinct likeness toward their onscreen counterparts. Toys that are movie accurate and make you feel like you actually have the character sat in the room with you! Toys that you spend your hard earned cash on and sacrifice other pleasures for. Whether it’s Hot Toys, Sideshow, Medicom or Hasbro, whether it’s superheroes, army soldiers, Transformers or TV & film stars, we love these movie masterpiece, scale figures, statues and replicas!

There’s an allure and excitement around this hobby that keeps thousands of us going back for more. Waiting for pre-orders and release dates and tracking down those we missed, whilst watching some awesome review videos and chatting in the various forums all builds up the anticipation of getting your hands on that new addition to the collection. Then comes the un-boxing, the posing, the reposing, the photographing and the customising. And there’s no end to it! You know you’ve said to yourself (or to your loved one), “Just one more. Just to complete that line. Then I’m happy.” But you and I know the truth behind it, there’s ALWAYS one more! But hey, it wouldn’t be collecting if we stopped!

I started collecting seriously in 2012 and it’s been a slippery slope for me. I’ve got a small but very pleasing collection of Hot Toys and Transformers that I’ve enjoyed immensely, so much so I’ve found myself needing more of an outlet. I’m gradually getting to know a local collector or two around my area and my brother is also a huge collector (and orchestrator of my fall into this money pit), but I just don’t feel I get opportunity to share this passion enough. I’m really getting into customising and photographing and want to do so much more, so I thought, “Why not get myself a website where I can post anything I want, anytime I want?!”

And that leads me into what I’m doing here, typing away at midnight, sat on the couch in my Bangkok apartment, comforting my cat, Bumble, who had his bollocks removed today. You know when your mind is racing and you just can’t sleep? That’s tonight for me and well, I had to make a start on creating this space to empty my brain, so here it is. What am I going to do with this space, you ask? Well I suppose in time I’d like to venture into some kind of business related to this hobby, but for now, this is somewhere I can upload my photos, videos and my favourite links on the web and hopefully showcase some nice bits and bobs.

There’s always room for comments and suggestions as to what you’d like to see, after all, you’re the one reading this. So feel free to post comments or pop me a message… Keep it friendly if you don’t mind 😉

If you’ve made it this far, then well done to you dedicated collector! And I hope you enjoy my musings, updates and additions to, The Collection Corner.

    • Hi Eddie,

      Thanks for your message.
I personally use the warm leds in my cabinets but the more popular are the White LEDs. But it really depends on the look you want to achieve. Colours look rich under the warm light but white really brings out the details.
I hope that helps at least a little.
      Best regards
      Dave

    • Hi Erik,

The wire comes out of the bottom corner of the cabinet underneath the door. There is plent of clearance for it so no chaffing of the wire generally. The other option is to drill a 10mm hole through the base in the corner to feed the wire through. This is the method I have used on my own cabinets, though not for the faint of heart of your cabinet is already assembled.

      Hope that helps
      Dave.

  1. Hi Dave – I currently live in the UK & just wanted to check if your Invisible LED Light Kit Mark II (for the IKEA Detolf cabinet) can run effectively if it is plugged in via a simple adapter plug. I have other (non LED) US lamps I brought with me from the US & they work just fine with a standard $2 adapter plug. Could you just confirm? Also do you ship to the UK? If not I can pick up in the US on my next visit. Thanks very much.

    • Hi there Wendy, thanks for your message. I include a power adaptor that is appropriate for the lights in with the kit. I would normally send you the plug type for the country of delivery. If the plug type is in question, it will definitely work with any standard converter plug that you might take abroad on holiday.

I hope that helps but please feel free to email me with any further questions.

      Best wishes
      Dave
